Upon signing the first Constitution of Bhutan H.M. King Jigme Khesar
Wangchuck confirmed a solemn partnership of the Bhutanese people to
strive for Gross National Happiness. Is GNH uniquely applicable to
Bhutan, or is it a message to the world?
Two international experts will explore the meaning of GNH and the
recently launched GNH Index in the context of local development in
Bhutan and the global economic crisis. Should progress be driven beyond
GDP by well-being or Quality of Life? What is genuine progress and how
can it be measured? Why should it be measured?
